Integrating scanners into an existing system? It's a snap these days, with emulations and connectors galore. Wireless communications is also hot and getting easier to implement. But that's nothing new.
Long-range communications enable portable data collection to take on a whole new meaning. Current cellular systems have their own limitations, particularly in rural areas, but satellite communications systems are on the horizon figuratively and literally. while this isn't a scanning trend, per se, it offers the opportunity for a lot of new real-time
POS scanner applications that weren't possible before. The trend, then, may well be to be able to "cut the cord" and take scanning truly mobile.
Smart Scanners, the LS 2600 and LS 3600 series POS scanners, incorporate Fuzzy Logic Data Sampling that allows accurate digitalization and decoding of bar codes that, in the past, were considered unreadable. Fuzzy logic, an advanced computing technology, allows computers to process questions that do not have yes-or-no answers. Based on information that is programmed into memory, the computer can interpret nebulous data. The LS 2600 and LS 3600
POS scanners assess the quality of a bar code while reading it and compensate for missing or smudged data.
